The second largest city in Egypt was founded in 331 BC by 25-year-old Alexander the Great, Alexandria is a legendary city. The towering Pharos lighthouse that marked the entrance to the ancient harbour, was one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and the Great Library was considered the archive of ancient knowledge. There is little left of these historical sites as the lighthouse collapsed and the Great Library was torched. read more

Mahshi has got to be the favourite food of all Egyptians, both big and small! The term 'mashi' in arabic means stuffed. A stuffing of rice, seasoned with crushed red tomatoes, onion, parsley, dill, salt, pepper and spices is put into vegetables such as green peppers, eggplant, courgette, tomatoes, grape or cabbage leaves. They're then placed in a pot and topped with chicken broth or beef broth. Mahshi is usually served with molokhia or linansa asfour soup and fried chicken and beef. read more
